The Role

We’re looking to hire an ambitious and proactive Account Manager to manage teams for a few well-known, national consumer brands, including a major beverage company. The ideal candidate has a track record of building strong client relationships, coaching and mentoring staff and rolling up her sleeves on the day-to-day work. Responsibilities include creating and executing strategic campaigns, securing top-tier media coverage, crafting compelling messaging, proactively identifying trends and driving thought leadership and executive visibility for clients to engage in relevant conversations. Strong experience with Reputation Management (issues and crisis management), as well as ESG communications is important. What You Will Be Doing

  • Manage day-to-day relationships with clients
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients on a range of topics and issues
  • Help create and prepare integrated communications plans, including earned media outreach, paid media integrations, social and digital media engagement and thought leadership and executive visibility
  • Support the execution of these plans, including but not limited to:
    • Researching and pursuing speaking engagements and awards
    • Creating compelling written content for a variety of owned, earned and paid channels
    • Identifying and executing opportunities to amplify stories through paid media
    • Securing press coverage for company news and stories
    • Pitching executives for profiles and Q&A opportunities
    • Drafting and pitching byline articles
  • Craft stories and conduct outreach to business and trade media, especially corporate social responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability media
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of client business and industry; proactively identify trends and share with account teams and clients
  • Draft written materials including message guides, client correspondence, case studies, news releases, pitch letters, briefing documents, and issue briefs
  • Help lead client calls and meetings and respond to client’s requests, with a goal to build trusting client relationships
  • Conduct research on a range of topics including the client, their industry, key issues, competitors, and key stakeholders
  • Help pitch new business opportunities

The Experience That Will Contribute To Your Success

  • A background in corporate communications, including sustainability communications, either within a PR/Marketing Communications Agency or in-house Corp Comms role; you have likely been practicing your craft for 8-10 years
  • Experience managing large consumer accounts – including building strong client relationships, effectively managing teams and building and managing budgets
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and follows through – anticipates client needs
  • A clear understanding of the stories reporters and editors are interested in covering – creative storytelling
  • Passion for world and current events and how they impact companies/consumer brands (e.g., DEI, COVID, climate change, supply chain issues)
  • Ability to analyze complex topics quickly and succinctly to inform/counsel clients
  • Existing relationships and the ability to quickly build and maintain effective relationships with influential media contacts, including in the CSR and sustainability space
  • Understanding what makes for good digital and social media content and the ability to cross-promote
  • Experience in balancing the needs of a multitude of clients – ability to remain organized and multi-task on a deadline
  • High degree of attention to detail in all areas, from performing research to crafting client- and public-facing materials
  • Working on integrated accounts
  • Clear, concise and expedient writing skills
