The Role

We are seeking to hire a Vice President of ESG to play a leadership role in counseling corporate clients in the areas of ESG Strategy, Reporting, Operational Transformation, and Stakeholder Engagement. Social Impact and DE&I. This role will be a leader among a group of passionate professionals who are dedicated to helping leading brands be good corporate citizens. The VP must have significant expertise working with businesses to develop sustainability goals, strategies and operational recommendations in the areas of climate, supply chain and product sustainability.   They will have developed ESG reports that are aligned with GRI and SASB standards, facilitated stakeholder engagement, conducted  materiality assessments, led rating and ranking assessments, developed policy and position papers for companies on issues ranging from bio-diversity to animal welfare,  and have strong familiarity with how to identify and partner with relevant trade groups, industry associations, consultants, and non-profits who can be valuable partners in executing sustainability plans.   As a senior member of our account team the Vice President is responsible for delivering the highest quality work product , while cultivating client relationships, growing accounts organically, fostering staff development and advancing thought leadership. The VP must be well-versed in ESG topics, including trends in order to be a trusted advisor to senior-level client contacts. 

 

Candidates will have participated in work on an array of ESG topics (or be fearless about jumping in and learning them)  – for example: regenerative agriculture, climate change, packaging, chemicals, responsible sourcing, supply chain, energy, water, recycling, circular economy, human rights, social justice and DEI.   Outstanding writing, presentation and project management skills are required.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Participate in the development of ESG reports and websites including materiality assessments, SME interviews, stakeholder engagement, benchmarking, goal setting, stewarding third party data collection and verification, developing a GRI/SASB index, reviewing and editing report narrative and overseeing a design team for report layout and development of a digital experience.
  • Develop strategies and operational recommendations in the areas of climate, supply chain and product sustainability  - with programmatic and policy  recommendations across an array of sustainability topics including: regenerative agriculture, climate change, packaging, chemicals, responsible sourcing, energy, water, recycling, circular economy and  human rights. 
  • Identify and partner with relevant trade groups, industry associations, consultants, and non-profits who can be valuable partners in executing sustainability plans.  
  • Supporting clients in completing sustainability ratings and ranking assessments.
  • Develop policy and position papers for clients on issues ranging from bio-diversity to animal welfare.
  • Staying on top of trends in sustainability to be a valuable client counselor. 
  • Assist in the development and presentation of materials, analyses, research summaries, and general client correspondence.
  • Participate company initiatives, including training and supervision of junior staff, new business pitches and brainstorming sessions.
  • Manage multiple accounts and demonstrate a mastery of account management including staffing, budgeting, billing and resource allocation ensuring effective financial management.
  • Create a work environment that is motivating and empowering, fostering effective communication among the team and consistently offering positive and constructive feedback to team members in a manner that helps them learn and grow.
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit, always seeking opportunities to grow accounts organically.
  • Participate in marketing PN through new business outreach and industry events.
